our mission
leave lighter
than you arrived
a place to unload heavy thoughts
Every part of this realm — the counter, the rooms, the music, the small glowing machines — is built for exactly one reason. That everyone who plays here should feel lighter when they leave than when they walked in. Not distracted. Not entertained until they forget. Lighter: the way you feel when you finally set something heavy down, and someone kind takes it from you and says i’ve got it from here.
That is the whole mission. Everything else on this site is in service to it.
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
01 · the intention
why we’re allowed to promise that
we didn’t invent this idea — we’re following it
We want to be clear about where the idea came from, because it isn’t ours.
Yeshua — Jesus Christ — said plainly what he wanted for everyone on earth: to feel light, and not to carry the burdens of daily life around in their heart. To feel joy and not dissatisfaction. Not on a good day. Every day. For everybody — no exceptions, no entrance requirements, nobody standing at the door being measured first.
So when this realm says come in and put it down, we aren’t being poetic. We’re repeating him. The cafe is a small, warm room built in the shape of that promise — and if it ever stops feeling like that, then something here has gone wrong and we want you to tell us.
Everything you find in this place is aimed at that: the music you can leave running, the rooms you can wander without being asked a single question, the characters who are simply glad you came. You are never required to perform, to be interesting, to be fine.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
02 · what the chimeras are saying
nobody here is a defect
the hybrid animals, the ears, the tails — and the truth they stand in for
In this story there are chimeras: hybrid animals who were made into humans — some with animal ears, some with tails, some with both. The world that made them called them experiments. It looked at them, measured them against something, and quietly decided they had come out wrong.
They are not decoration. They are the argument.
Because this is what the chimeras are standing in for, and it is true for every single person reading this page:
- No human being on earth is perfect. Not one. The polished ones, the calm ones, the ones who look like they got it right — they have their own trials, and they carry them the same way you carry yours.
- Everyone goes through trials. It does not matter what any of us has been through, how heavy the year was, or how much of it we are still carrying around. Nobody is exempt, and nobody is being graded on how well they hid it.
- No matter what we look like, and no matter what we feel like — on a good morning or a bad one — it does not change the way Yeshua sees us. Not by a single degree. Man looks at the outward appearance; the Lord looks at the heart.
The world will spend your whole life trying to convince you that you are defective — that something is missing, that you were assembled wrong, that you are a copy of a copy of a copy. That voice is loud and it is everywhere and it is wrong.
Yeshua says: you are my jewel. Not a stone among stones. Not a spare part. Precious diamonds — worth more to him than anything ever dug out of the ground, and he says it the way a person speaks about something they would never, ever sell.
And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
For the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
And then comes the part that changes everything.
When he dwells inside a person, he makes them new. Not improved. Not patched. Not tolerated while they work on themselves. New. If there was darkness in you, it is not there any more — it is finished, it is gone, it is not the thing he is looking at when he looks at you. God does not see a dim little creature who still needs a lot of work. He sees his own precious light.
Like the lightning bug. A tiny, ordinary creature that carries its own lamp — and goes on glowing. In a field, on a warm night, when everything around it has gone grey, it does not argue with the dark. It just glows, because that is what it was made to do.
That is you. That is the whole design.
This is the firefly that follows your cursor around the realm. It is here for a reason: it is the smallest, plainest picture we have of what Yeshua does with a person who lets him in. You do not have to be big. You do not have to be bright on your own. You only have to be his — and then the light is not something you have to manufacture, because it is living in you.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
03 · no longer liable
the account is closed
not suspended · not on probation · closed
We are not guilty.
Jesus Christ died in our place. Not as an example, not as a gesture, not as a general statement about being nicer to each other — in our place, the way one person stands in for another when the fine has to be paid and the one who owes it cannot possibly pay it. He paid it. It is paid.
And when we are baptised, we surrender our old life to God, so that Yeshua can take our place. Buried with him; raised with him; walking in newness of life. The old account is not suspended and we are not on probation pending good behaviour. The old account is closed, and the new one is not ours to keep in order — it is his.
So: we are no longer liable. No longer judged. Free in Yeshua — free the way a person is free who has walked out of a courtroom with nothing left owing, and no file with their name on it.
Now we live in him, and in his kingdom — which he shares with utter love and devotion to those who love him. Not as servants kept at a polite distance in the hallway. As family at the table, with a plate already set out.
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
04 · what he left behind
he handed us his authority
so speak into the air — he is listening
And when he left the earth, he did not leave us empty-handed. He left us his authority. We inherited it. That is not a metaphor and it is not a small thing — it is the reason a person who has nothing can still stand up and change the shape of their day.
So now we speak things into the air, and he hears us. He creates the things we ask for — or he helps us, quietly, in ways we only notice afterwards — and where there was a wall there is suddenly a new door of opportunity waiting, already open, that we would have sworn was not there last week.
He makes all things new. Nothing is impossible for us with Jesus Christ leading the way. Not because we are impressive — because he is, and he has decided to take us with him.
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore…
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
05 · the honest part
what it costs to keep the light on
no markup · no invented numbers · here is the actual bill
The realm is small enough right now to run almost free. That is the honest truth, and we are not going to dress it up to make the ask look bigger than it is.
But we don’t want it to stay small. We want these rooms to hold as many members and visitors as possible — a whole weekend’s worth of people, all arriving at once, nobody turned away — without the doors jamming, without the music cutting out, and without anyone losing what they were in the middle of.
We want this to be your favourite place to chill out and lounge: somewhere you can learn cool new things about yourself, and about how to respect and love each other. It turns out that is a modest dream with a very un-modest electricity bill. So here it is, line by line.
keeping the lights on today
monthly · what the realm already coststhe weekend we’re building for
monthly · at full size, on a busy weekendthe target: about 50,000 visits across a weekend · up to 4,000 people in the rooms at the same time · roughly 6 TB of pages, art and music served in a month
and the people
monthly · the real number, honestlyservers don’t answer the mail at 2am. people do — and we would rather pay people than pretend it runs itself
the whole realm, at that size
$5,866.50
That is the full, unfiltered number — the roof, the electricity and the people, all at once. It is a lot, and we would rather show it to you than quietly round it off.
this month’s goal is not the whole number. The next step is the roof and the electricity plus one community host — enough that the realm stays up through a busy weekend and that a real person is there to answer you. That lands at about $1,500 a month, and that is what the ko-fi goal is set to.
how the money arrives: ko-fi takes a 5% service fee on shop sales and commissions; card processors take about 2.9% + 30¢ a transaction, and a card issued outside the US adds about 1.5%. We do not add a cent on top of our own costs to cover it — the fees simply come out of the gift, which is why a small gift doesn’t stretch quite as far as it looks.
what we promise: no markup on anything we make, and no number on this page that we invented to look good. Where a figure is an estimate (a busy weekend is a guess, and a friendly one) we say so. When a real bill comes in and differs, we change the number on this page and tell you why.
and what we don’t do: no paywalls, no locked rooms, no “premium” version of feeling better. The realm is free and will stay free. Nobody’s ability to be here, or to be cared about, will ever depend on whether they could give anything.
06 · if you’d like to help
put a coin in the tin
entirely up to you — and completely unrelated to whether you belong here
gift a coffee
If this place has already made a day of yours lighter, and you have something to spare, you can drop a gift in the tin through ko-fi. Any amount. One-off or monthly, whichever suits your life. It goes into the one fund that holds the realm up.
♥ gift a coffee on ko-fiopens ko-fi in a new tab · no account needed
And if money isn’t yours to give right now — genuinely, that is fine, and we mean it. You have already given us the better thing by being here at all. Come in. Sit down. Bring a friend who needs a quieter corner of the internet. Say something kind to a stranger this week. That is not a consolation prize and it is not a polite way of saying “go away” — it is the point of the whole realm, and it was never once going to be measured in money.
what a gift becomes
Every gift — a tip, a membership, a commission from the menu — goes into the same fund. Ko-fi can only carry one goal at a time, so the goal lives there and the details live here, and both of them point the same way: keeping a soft, safe, generous place on the internet open for as many people as want to come in.
Thank you. Not for the money — for caring about the kind of place this is. Shalom.
